Kick Start Your Red Socks Project

Involving your Club or Organisation with a Red Socks Project

Get your Club or Organisation spreading the Red Socks message of Early Detection of Prostate Cancer. Starting a project is easy, and we provide support to get setup and to help you along the process.

The Rotary Club of Townsville Sunrise can advise and assist with your project. Socks, information and marketing brochures are available. Contact us for bulk order rates and personalised printing needs, your club name or organisation.

We appreciate feedback on your activities so we can help others. All proceeds from sales and materials are redirected into marketing the Red Socks Project. We seek no reward from profits made by clubs or organisations. We do recommend donating to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

How to Get Started with a Red Socks Project

There is a proven two-fold outcome when sponsoring a Red Socks Project.

  1. It will save lives through early awareness of the prostate cancer disease
  2. It will identify and positively market your club/organisation within and to the community

Step 1

  • Commence an in-house project
  • Use the Red Sock packs and information material as a HR project within your group
  • Use this as a reward and a practical reminder of the concerns for their welfare
  • Red Sock packs make ideal gifts – presents, new members, guest speakers, etc
  • Seek feedback at meetings, tool box talks etc to discuss the disease
  • Organise a guest speaker on the subject – Doctor or health worker, etc

Step 2

  • Become involved in a community or workplace project
  • Seek out a project/event promoting your organisation or group, i.e. golf day, men’s health event or fundraising at the markets, etc
  • Fundraise for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia – prostate cancer awareness month is held throughout Australia annually in November.

Step 3

  • Venture into a whole of community/workplace project
  • Evaluate and adopt a (*rural) community or corporate workplace
  • Market your organisation within this group

Step 4

  • There is no limit on how the project can be applied. Evaluate your organisation and community, plan and execute the event, re-evaluate outcomes. Use your club brand or partner with Rotary on a project.
